Brilliant, chameleonic, simply extraordinary. Yayoi Kusama is the protagonist of the Art Night scheduled for Thursday, May 4th at 6:30 pm at the Deodato Arte Gallery in the heart of Milan. The evening event, open to collectors and fans of the queen of polka dots – with which the artist filled the living rooms and streets of New York from 1958 to 1973 – aims to pay tribute to the incredible woman who, at a young age, left Japan to dedicate herself to the creative life of New York. Over the years Kusama gave shape with courage to her inner landscape, expressing her psychological and emotional dilemmas.
Visitors to the Deodato Arte Gallery (Via Nerino,1) will be able to admire 5 limited edition works on paper signed by Kusama, set up in a unique, almost fairy-tale context, strongly characterized by the small sculptures of the artist’s iconic colorful polka dot pumpkins, part of her official merchandising.
This year, Paris was invaded by a gigantic sculpture that celebrated the long-standing relationship between Yayoi Kusama and Louis Vuitton, attracting worldwide attention: Deodato Arte Gallery brings to Milan some of the work that have made the history of this world-famous artist and that tell the inner world of a revolutionary Kusama, in all her fascinating, mysterious, and complex personality.
